Meet Marshall R. Yellen, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Marshall R. Yellen, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a dual-boarded, New York City-trained plastic surgeon who has practiced in Jackson, Tennessee, since 1997. Dr. Yellen is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Yellen graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry/biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. While studying at the Institute of Reconstructive Surgery, New York City, Dr. Yellen participated in a research project related to improving liposuction techniques. It was this experience that inspired him to devote his professional career to the practice of plastic surgery.
Dr. Yellen received his general surgery training at Lenox Hill Hospital, Park Avenue, New York. He completed a plastic surgery residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. He performed a fellowship at the Cristine M. Klienert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky, training with some of the forefathers of hand surgery.
Dr. Yellen has traveled to Central America, where he performed reconstructive surgery on children with cleft lips and palates. He has co-authored several scientific papers, including an article related to liver transplants in children, published by the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and a book chapter entitled “Electrical Injuries of the Upper Extremity.”
